This part of my life is called: Catching Up with Life

Well, it almost been a month since I resigned from work, and I AM LOVING IT.

And of course, since I have lots of time in my hand now at this chapter of my life, there are going to be some changes…

I missed my family, A LOT… This summer, I plan on spending it with them…

I missed my friends too… lalo na ung mga kababata ko sa Manila… so don't be surprised if almost every day, andun ako. It's just that I missed you guys. I missed bonding, and playing basketball with you all.

Miss ko na din mga blockmates ko. A couple of days ago, I went to UST to grab tickets for a modeling event, and since I was within the location, I sms'ed my best-bud-from-college, Isa to see if we could meet up. Buti na lang lunch nila ni Christie. So aun, hangout saglit near Astoria st. kwento kwento hahaha. I sure miss the old times. I think it's about time na we arrange another block get together event. Gusto ko ung swimming and overnight… sana pwede ulit resthouse nila gem nyahaha!!

What hasn't changed since I left work?

One thing that I hated about myself ever since getting a job was that I gained weight… and when I said gained weight, I literally meant gained weight… here are some before and after pics.

BEFORE (This was taken at SJ Tambayan, DLSU-M approximately 5 years ago…

You see that? That Double chinned, chubby cheeked man?

What I'm thinking now? Lifestyle change. My target, to lose 40-60 pounds in a span of a year. Game plan is to do 30-45 minutes of jogging 3 days a week (which isn't so hard since there is this nice park in a nearby subdivision) and 2 basketball games on Sunday. I really need to get my old body back…

So aun… I know I haven't been posting anything on this blog lately. The reason is I'm pretty much occupied ditto sa bahay. Its either nagluluto ako (yes, im still trying to learn how to cook now), gardening (bago ito for me, got to put what I learned in botany), or nagbabantay ng tindahan. =)

I still missed my friends at work though… im gonna go there tomorrow so make yourselves available. Baka magyaya ako mag Rauls… hahaha!!

I just resigned from work today... parang nabunutan ako ng isang napakalaking tinik.. =)

but looking back. medyo masakit din pala, na iiwan mo ung company na dinedicate ko ung 2 years and 6 months ng buhay ko.. but I have personal goals to achieve, and time is running short.

Things that I'm not gonna miss:

1. Helping out stupid or bitchy or rude customers (its right that you pay us to help you but that doesnt give you any right to be rude to us)

2. i dont need to change my password every1-2 months (I already have a long list of used passwords and its getting hard to remember)

3. My new boss (haha asa pa sya)

4. My new shift manager (kung sana ung nilaki ng boobs nya napunta ung onti sa puso)

5. Installing Dellconnect every friggin day!!

6. My opening spiel

7. Avaya phone

8. Spam ng program namin na wala ng ginawa kundi punuin ung 4mb file limit ng mailbox ko.. grrr..

9. isa pa pala un, ung 4mb file limit ng mailbox.. potek mas malaki pa ung memory ng cellphone ko eh, buti pa un 64mb..

10. si jollibee... nakakasuka na sya eh

11. ung Milo sa pantry na mag LBM ka pag uminom ka

12. ung pagbebenta

13. ung pagtroubleshoot..

and shempre, eto naman ung listahan ng mga bagay na mamimiss ko...

Things that I'm gonna miss:

1. Im gonna miss Team Wetworks - sila ung last (And the BEST) team ko bago ako umalis..

2. makipagkulitan with team mates

3. Coaching sessions with Nat

4. Raul's Isaw sessions

5. Gilligan's inuman..

6. Being independent financially (ngaun, balik ako sa puder ni mama hahaha, mabilis mauubos tong inipon ko pihado)

7. My outlook (dami kasi messages dun na gusto ko sana isave)

8. ung mga crush ko sa SMB huhuhu (joke lang frapp, love you!! as if naman kasi may chicks dito no, puro mga lalake tao dito eh)

This was the day na sobrang happy ako kasi, nalipat na din ako ng eTelecare Alabang.

Three days after, I met my new team…

First outing with Alabang teammates. Nasanay na kasi ako na di nakakasama sa mga GA's ng mga naging team ko before kasi the thought of the long travel makes me wanna go home and just sleep all through the weekend.. pero ngaun oks naman. First time na I get to hang out with the coolest TL on the floor (Self proclaimed) and JR (Case controller namin).

Lots of things happened ever since then. Nandyan na ung muntik bumagsak ang PA kasi frustrated ako dahil di ako napromote nung Q4 2007. Pero that feeling was short lived as I started to enjoy this team for the very first time in my whole stay sa company.

What made this team different from a total of six teams na nalipatan ko in my almost 3 years stay sa etel?

This team is FUN. Yeah I know na you should pass your metrics every 3 months, yada yada, but you don't have to take the fun away with that. Previous teams that I've experienced, masyadong focused metrics wise that they tend to over emphasize on them (making their agents stressed out) thus forgetting to put the fun factor in work.

I like this team because the manager cared. Unlike that one team leader na I had before, who threatened na isuspend ako if I went absent (because my mom got sick during that time at kami lang ng sis ko ang tao sa bahay). I now got a manager who cared, and sobrang thankful ako for that. As an employee, it's nice to know (and feel) na the company that you have dedicated your 3 years is showing that it cares for you through your manager. That makes me want to give back and excel sa trabaho na binigay sa kin, kasi at the back of my mind, wala na ako iniisip kasi if ever may mangyari, I know that the company will support me. To think of it, even if I work para sa sarili ko, my priority will always be my family. eTelecare should train more people like Nat. Leaders that has their hearts in the right place.

Like they say, there is no "I" in "team". One more reason why I love Team Wetworks is its members. From the over farting Andrew to the high libido mommy Leah. Sobrang saya, na di mo napapansin na tapos na pala ung shift nyo dahil tawa lang kayo ng tawa. Ever experienced na you are on the floor with the most boring team? tapos when you look over sa cubicle mo, may makikita ka na team na sobrang saya (at nagkakantahan pa, while on shift). Don't you wish na sana andun ka? Well, I wished before, and it came true.

From the times na kumakain tau sa Mang Raul's Isawan hanggang sa escapades natin sa Laguna, this was a team you'll look forward to work with everyday.

Good things doesn't last forever, but I was very happy while it lasted. This coming Wednesday, I will no longer be a member of Team Wetworks. But nonetheless, I'm still happy na I became a part of it. I'll still be looking forward to our Gilligans drinking sessions and isaw escapades. Keep in touch. =)

January 27th around 9:00 PM

Ginising ako ng kapatid ko, she was screaming...

i was half awake, she was telling me about something that included the words water, electricity, sparks and smoke in it...

Adrenaline rushed... Jumped out of bed, turned off the main power line and hurriedly went to our kitchen..

I could smell something burning, then there sa may corner, i see the thing sparking, little flames coming out of it..

hurriedly got a couple of pliers, hammer and electrical tape...

after making sure that there is no more sparks. I asked my sister again what happened..

Our helper, Mae, was cleaning the kitchen with a wet sponge and bucket of water. I dont know what really happened but I think she somehow spilled water on an outlet where our oven was plugged in..

I did appreciate Mae for immediately telling my sister about the situation pero, as I was telling my mom and dad (in Cebu) what happened, I learned na matagal na din pala sya sinasabihan ni mama na be careful around electricity.

She didn't hear a mouthful from me.. pero she should be ready once our parents arrive...

so aun, im here, awake at 12:44 a.m. standing up every now and then to check some outlets just to make sure na walang ibang na short circuit...

I miss college...

(Dec. 9, 2008) – Disney•Pixar will premiere its first Disney Digital 3-D™ short film – “Tokyo Mater” – directed by Academy Award®-winner John Lasseter, at theaters nationwide beginning December 12. Appearing before Walt Disney Pictures’ “Bolt,” the animated short is the fourth in Disney•Pixar’s “Cars Toons” series, inspired by the hit 2006 film “Cars.”

A Tribute to JV Casio and the rest of the DLSU squad

During my last year in DLSU, it was JV Casio who gave me and my blockmates a memorable year. He shot that last shot that propelled the archers to win the 2004 UAAP Men's Basketball championships... Me and my friends already knew for a fact that he was destined to do great things in DLSU Basketball. and yes, He did...

By doing this post, i'd like to thank JV Casio and the rest of the DLSU men's basketball team, first of all, for the championship that they gave us on our last year in DLSU, and also for playing their hearts out in every game that they play. My hats off to you...

To all the other players, Hope to see you again next season. I know you guys will bravely take the lead from JV and lead our new breed of archers to the next level.

To the rookies, im very impressed. Cant wait to see a more mature you on the next season.

Sir Franz, kahit ano pa sabihin nila, ikaw pa din pinaka favorite kong coach. Hats off to the tactician.

JV CASIO’S TIME

Joseph Evans Casio came at a not so auspicious time. The Green Archers was still feeling the pangs from their championship loss to bitter rivals, the Ateneo Blue Eagles, the previous season. And with a rookie-laden lineup which includes the former Red Cub, the Green Archers missed the UAAP Finals for the first time since 1994.

He came at a time when rookies were not given much hype as much as what we are seeing now. Nonetheless, JV as he has come to be known, quietly earned the praise not only of the Green supporters but also of the regular UAAP spectator. Despite the presence of a much vaunted rivals like Ateneo’s Chris Tiu and Ford Arao, Adamson’s Ken Bono, UP’s Marvin Cruz, JV romped off with the Rookie of the Year honors.

He came at a time when the Green Archers had the spectacular and flashy duo of Joseph Yeo and Macmac Cardona. For years, he played in the shadows of his superstar teammates. No complaints, no buts. He responded as a loyal team player. But the superstar in him is waiting to be unraveled. In the do-or-die Game 3 of the 2004 UAAP Championship Series vs. the FEU Tamaraws, JV nailed a crucial three-point shot in the dying seconds of the ballgame, reminiscent of Ren-Ren Ritualo’s gameturning triple in the 1998 Season.

Yes, JV is indeed the next Archer to watch. But just when JV’s star is starting to shine brightly, another controversy hit De La Salle that resulted in the one-year suspension of the Green Archers from the UAAP. Sadly, the clouds seemed to have dimmed JV’s star.

And in 2007, after a one-year hiatus from the UAAP, the De La Salle Green Archers vindicated their suspension and won the UAAP crown. JV Casio lived up to everyone’s hope and expectation and spearheaded the Green Archers’ fairy-tale win over the heavily favored UE Red Warriors. JV’s star is shining brighter than ever. He was named in the UAAP Mythical Team of Season 70 and Finals Most Valuable Player together with Cholo Villanueva. Despite all the accolades, JV remained the humble and quiet cager that he is.

JV vowed to return to lead DLSU in its quest for a back-to-back championship. He did not reneg on that promise. He took up Masters in Environmental Science and wore the Green and White jersey for the very last season. JV led the Archers and guided the young La Salle squad game in and game out. Delivering on his promise, the Green Archers’ team captain steered La Salle to its 13th finals appearance in 15 UAAP seasons.

No matter what the outcome of this year’s Finals will be, JV Casio is one superstar the entire Lasallian community will miss. His surname might have been an abbreviation of the constellation, Cassiopeia, which contains one of the brightest stars in the galaxy, because for sure, wherever Casio may be, his star will forever shine brightly.

2003

JV was already a regular fixture in the Archers’ rotation in his rookie year at a tender age of 16 and fresh out of San Beda High School.

As a freshman, JV proved that he can hang tough against the more-seasoned players of the league.

JV was never shy to hit the big shots since day one of his UAAP career.

JV was instrumental in leading the then rookie-laden Green Archers team to a respectable finish in 2003. He won the rookie of the year award on top of being one of the league leaders in the steals category.

2004

With a year of college ball experience tucked under his belt, JV was ready to assume an even bigger role in his sophomore year.

JV was among the key components in the Archers’ vaunted full court press.

JV played a significant role in the Archers’ victory over FEU in the 2004 championship series. He hit a clutch three-pointer in the dying seconds of the sudden death match that gave the lead and eventually the win.

With his oncourt brilliance and clutch performance all season long, JV was certainly not hounded by the so-called sophomore jinx.

2005

With the departure of Macmac Cardona, JV got even more minutes in the guard rotation.

JV developed his slashing ability to add another dimension to his game.

In most occasions, he played the point. He orchestrated the offense well as a back-up to TY Tang.

JV and the rest of the team had all reasons to celebrate as they booked another seat in the finals that year.

2007

Coming back from year’s absence due to suspension, JV and the Archers are determined to once again rise to the top.

A more confident JV displayed a new arsenal of moves from fade-away jumpers to cat-quick drives that baffled defenders to no end.

There was no stopping JV and the Archers from charging their way back to the finals after a one-year layoff.

Sweet vindication indeed.

2008

In his final playing year in the UAAP, JV in now the main man of the team being the most seasoned Archer.

JV took his game to a whole new level this season being the team’s primary offensive option.

Being the leader that he is, JV is the stabilizing force for the Archers this season.

After my first editorial on ADMU, I was planning to write a separate editorial on our own team. But, from what I was reading from the opinions posted at that editorial, many seemed to have misinterpreted my thoughts to mean that ADMU had a superior team than ours. If one were to re-read my piece, you will notice that there is no such implication.

So, as I was about to write about our team, many events had already occurred. Patience everyone. This middle aged brain can only do so much at the same time.

Last Saturday saw the end of the regular season of the UAAP. As expected by a few, myself included, ADMU topped the double round robin with a 13-1 record while DLSU and FEU tied for 2nd at 10-4. The Green Archers ended the regular season they way they started it, with a loss to the top ranked Blue Eagles.

During and after the game last Saturday, I was amazed at the varied reactions by members of the La Sallian family. Many were disappointed, others disgusted, others frustrated while a few said, ok lang. I am one of the few who say OK LANG. To explain why I felt this, let's have a brief background about our team.

Many have said, Coach Franz included, that last year's batch of Green Archers was the weakest team he has ever had to work since coaching DLSU. And yet, we won the Championship against a team no one thought could be stopped - UE with an immaculate 14-0 regular season record. It was a bittersweet victory for Coach Franz for this championship erased the stigma and humiliation of a one year suspension from the league for 'negligence' regarding the eligibility of two former players. It was sweet as it VINDICATED the team, the players, the coaches, the management and the entire DLSU institution itself. It was personally bitter for Coach Franz because he accomplished it against his own younger brother whom he loves so much. You know to Coach Franz, family is everything. That's the Pumaren family. Like yours too, I am sure.

The team began preparation in earnest for this season sometime late March. As many expected, TY Tang, Cholo Villanueva and Brian Ilad would not be back for the team having exhausted their eligibility. What did come as a surprise to everyone, was the decision of Kish Co and OJ Cua (two reliable role players in last year's championship series) to opt to finish their remaining academic requirements and graduate this school year. That left the team with 5 vacancies - 3 expected and 2 unexpected.

Say what you want about Kish and OJ but both put in brilliant quality minutes for the team in the post season games against ADMU and, more importantly, against UE in the Finals. Their absence bore a deep hole into the frontline of the Green Archers.

Through recruitment and training, the team expected to cover this big gap by adding rookie Maui Villanueva into the frontline. Maui Villanueva, a stalwart of the Champion UPIS team of 2002 (when he was a 14 year old rookie), has honed his skills in the highly competitive Japanese high school circuit before coming to DLSU. Also, there were high hopes for Ferdinand and Walsham to finally come up with breakout and defining seasons. Lastly, it was expected that the comebacking Marko Batricevic would fill the need for a tall center who was also a scorer. So, all was set for the Green Archers this season.

Even though they lost the first game, hopes were high that the team would still be 'in it' due to the good recruits and what was expected to be a more solid frontline. However, that was not to be. Batricevic reinjured his ACL which took him out of the season in the first round game with UE just after, ironically, shooting a three-point shot. Also, Ferdinand and Walsham have so far been a bust all season long though glimpses of what they can do could be seen in our last three games. Glimpses nevertheless. This meant Maierhofer playing the 5 with Maui and James Mangahas left to rotate at the 4 & 5 positions. The rest of the team rotated among themselves the 1 2 and 3 positions. So Jvee brillantly spearheads our backcourt along with Simon, LA, PJ Barua, Bader, Hyram and the rest of the team. Our backcourt is solid for as long as Jvee is not sick or not having a RARE off night which everyone is entitled to.

This made the usual game plan of Coach Franz more difficult because all of a sudden, our front court (though never great shakes over the years) was very very very shallow. Without Ferdinand and Walsham showing their form from last year, DLSU's frontline was its Achilles' heel. And yet, because of the system that the team has played, they still managed to get the second best record for this season along with FEU. This shows the yeoman job the whole team has done regardless of the dearth in the bench. However, compared to previous years, the shallow frontline as allowed opponents to average more points against us this year, than in previous seasons.

Well, no matter what all the sports genuises and pundits have to say, DLSU is still in the Final Four. DLSU has been a main staple in the Final Four since the Final Four had been implemented in 1994 being in it all but one season - the season DLSU was suspended. Also, in the past 15 years, DLSU has been a finalist in 13 of those years. In the two years we did not make the finals, one of which was while we were suspended, ADMU made the Finals. It should be interesting to note that in those two Final appearances, ADMU lost - to FEU in 2003 and to UST in 2006.

So, DLSU is in the Final Four. First, DLSU has to try to beat FEU in a VIRTUAL best-of-three series. Something we did back in 2004 against ADMU. We all know who won the championship then. FEU is a tall, young and very athletic team. On almost all counts, FEU trumps DLSU. But a few factors are in DLSU's favor and they are Casio, Maierhofer, the rest of the team and FRANZ PUMAREN! Stats will go FEU's way. But, most of their main players have never been to the Final Four. So, only experience is riding on the shoulders of our players and coaches for the rest of the post season.

Inspite of that long intro, this editorial is not really about the team. It's a call for 'ONE' to rise and support our team all the way. Last Saturday, I saw a lot of disappointed La Sallians blurt out all sorts of things against our team, our players and our coaches. Heck, some were even making statements that Casio had sold the game! "HOGWASH!" is what I say. Jvee Casio is probably the most loyal of all our current players, BAR NONE! He has already graduated from DLSU is now pursuing his Masters degree in Psychology so that he could play his final year. ALL FOR LOVE OF LA SALLE. Never in the many years that Jvee has played for DLSU has there ever been any instance where Casio did not give his all. Last Saturday, inspite of his best efforts, he just could not snap out what probably was his most off day ever in his entire life, something that rarely happens to Jvee but could not have come at a worse time.

I see those people who think that way as those who can't and/or refuse to believe that ADMU really played well that day. Hey, overall, ADMU has been playing very well this season and, finally, you can see a level of consistency in their game. YES, ADMU CAN BE BEATEN!!! Just not last Saturday.

It's time again, for me to raise the clarion call for 'ONE' to rise!
It's time for 'ONE' to do his/her share to help our team achieve their best!
It's time for 'ONE' to rise and be counted to flood the Araneta Coliseum and other venues to cheer the team to its limits!
It's time for 'ONE' to stand up be hold our banner high and bright!
It's time for 'ONE' to be ONE once again!
It's time for ALL OF US to be that 'ONE' again!

Yes, the ADMU Blue Eagles and even the FEU Tamaraws are for real this year. But, DLSU have been for real for the longest time since 1989.

The Blue Eagles may be flying high, but if they hear steps rushing towards them, these are the steps they hear of the Green Archers breathing down their scrawny necks backed by a SEA OF ORDINARY GREEN ARCHERS (YOU AND ME) coming at them to bring the Blue Eagles down.

Fellow La Sallians, it's time again for ALL OF US to be ONE LA SALLE! No matter the outcome, we will always be ONE LA SALLE!

My Tita from Aklan, went to manila to see her son taking oath as a seaman at the Manila Pavillion. So in part of this, she stayed at our house for 3 days :)

Of course, since she came from Aklan, we got the usual pasalubong.. lots and lots of alimango and hipon.

2nd day of her stay sa min, which was also my day off. So the usual, we bid each other good night then we went to our rooms to sleep.

Since that particular day, medyo mainit. iniwan ko na lang na bukas ung pinto ng kwarto ko para makaikot ung hangin.

at around 12 to 1 midnight, habang nagpapaantok ako by watching Topgear, may narinig ako na kumakaluskos. I thought, nililipad lang ng fan ung plastic na nakakalat somewhere sa room ko kaya di ko na pinansin.

But then medyo nagiging clear ung sound.. di na sya basta kaluskos lang. It's more of claws scratching the walls.

The curious person that I am, I stood up and turned on the lights.

Lo and behold...
Siguro gutom na sya kasi almost two days na sila nasa bayong, or baka na bored kaya gumala muna hehehe

As some of you might have known, I have lost faith in our church (not in Christ) ever since the CBCP started showing some signs of corruption. Their continued brigade against birth control and meddling with politics are one of the things that I really don’t like about them.

While I was reading today’s paper, I glanced upon this article.

CBCP OKs condoms for married persons with HIV

Married persons infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and those with full-blown Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) will be allowed to use condoms to eliminate the risk of infecting their partners, an official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

Fr. Edwin Corros, executive secretary of the CBCP-Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Care for Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI), however, said condom use should be "the last resort."

Before using condoms, the partners should try abstinence and faithfulness to each other.

He clarified that the Church is only allowing the use of condoms in order to save a life – the life of the patient’s partner. "But you see by using that (condom) we are not actually endorsing condom use. We would like to prevent deaths in the family."

"I also think that the person also has the right to express the love to his or her partner. So this is practical. (Besides) you cannot also be sure that using condom would be 100-percent proof," Corros said.

The CBCP’s stand on condom use is one of the issues discussed in its newly launched training manual on HIV and AIDS for pastoral workers.

Corros said this is the first time that the Catholic Church in the Philippines will participate in the publication of a training manual on HIV and AIDS. It aims to provide factual information on the disease and how people can protect them from being infected.

The training manual will be given free to Catholic schools with the hope it would be incorporated in their curriculum to educate their students.

Corros said that the Department of Health (DOH) National Epidemiology Center reported 35 HIV-positive and AIDS cases for May, 84 percent higher than the number reported during the same period last year. The figure brings to 212 the total number of cases for the first five months of this year.

He said that while he was not alarmed by figures, "but I think it has been a concern. We have to think of ways (to address the problem) because it is not only the life of the victim that we have to consider but his or her family as well. This is how we look at the pastoral side."

Of the 35 cases, seven of them involved overseas Filipino workers. Corros said these workers "looked for comfort" when they were away from the country and ended up having a sexual relationship.

"I think our migrants have to be educated and that is what we at ECMI are pushing for," he said.

Well, CBCP, it’s about time. Better late than never I guess. Pero di rin eh.. shempre kung ako may HIV ako, for the obvious reasons, I’d use contraceptives…

CBCP, don’t tell us to do things that we, obviously already know.

On the other side, I was really glad that DLSU won against FEU yesterday. Although di ko sya natapos because I had to pick up my sister from school, Masaya pa din ako. And in light of that, I bought myself this.

Surviving the call center

DO you work in a call center? This is for you.

First, the good news. You’ve probably been hired not just for your faux North American accent, facility of speech or patience. More than those qualities, you’re working there because you’re young and physically resilient.

Second, the bad news. If you’ve been getting graveyard shifts for the longest time and if you haven’t called in sick, you will. The body can take only so much abuse. And you’re no Superman (or Wonder Woman) who can’t be bothered with the common cold, a sore throat or even the flu. In fact, if you are getting these often enough and you see everyone around you with the same sickness, you might even think it’s normal. It’s not.

Now one of the main causes of chronic sickness is deranged sleep. This means several things: You may be suffering from lack of sleep, interrupted sleep, delayed sleep, inability to sleep, and restless sleep. The immune system of the body takes a hit in sleep disorders. With impaired body defenses, getting sick is just a matter of time.

Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder. The body has an "internal clock" that regulates a 24-hour cycle of biological processes – from changes in body temperature, to the release of hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, to digestion, to growth and healing of tissues and organs. "Circadian" is from the Latin "around the day," and disrupting the circadian rhythm leads to a malfunction of the internal body clock. This means, among other things, messing with the normal pattern of wanting to sleep when it is already dark.

Results of Less Sleep. According to the US National Sleep Foundation, adults need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep every day. But for sleep to be restorative, it must also follow the internal body clock that signals sleeping at night and being awake in the daytime. This is one reason that some call center workers who are up all night still have difficulty sleeping in the day. Now the sleep-deprived think and move more slowly, have problems remembering things, make more mistakes in doing chores, and are prone to irritability, anxiety, impatience, and depression. Call center workers on night shift suffer stomach problems like indigestion and heartburn, menstrual irregularities, colds, flu, and weight gain compared to day workers. In the long term, it is more likely for shift workers to get heart disease and hypertension.

Safety for the Sleep-Deprived. Drowsiness in the daytime (after the night shift) is common. This will certainly have an impact on activities that require alertness. In going home, it’s better not to drive. Instead, take public transportation or join a carpool. But if you must drive, drive defensively. If you are too fatigued, and if the call center has sleeping quarters, take a nap before going home.

How to Sleep Better. At home, make sleep a priority. Many adjustments can be done around the fact of night shift work. For example, make the bedroom as dark as possible to simulate night time. Minimize noise by asking house mates to turn down TV and radio volume. It helps to take a warm bath and lowering room temperature. To hasten sleep, do not make the brain work by solving crossword puzzles, reading a spy novel, or answering e-mail. For some, blocking out sensory stimulation means using earplugs and wearing an eye mask or shade. It makes sense to avoid caffeine, cola drinks, and other stimulants. Alcohol disturbs the sleeping cycle and you may wake up more tired than rested. A light snack before sleep helps in relaxation, too. Finally, exercise near bedtime will raise the body temperature and delay rest even more.

Chronic sleep loss or sleep disruption will make you age faster than you can say "dried prune." Even if you are young, take steps to protect your health before the body breaks down. Don’t ignore deepening fatigue – yawning, frequent blinking because of dry eyes or red eyes, slower movement, daytime drowsiness– all signs of a perilous "low batt" life.

Today, medyo masaya kasi meron ako unexpected visitor sa office, si jen haha!! SIL sya ngaun pero pumunta ng shaw para, guess what, mag work… amph!!

Masaya ako kse nagpakain sya ng mallows tsaka popcorn wahahaha.. Salamat sa pagvisit ^_^

Another thing, naglaro kami DOTA ng mga ka team mates ko (Team ruwi). 2 games kami, 4 vs 3 ung laban haha. Sarap maglaro. TL namin lakas magtrashtalk haha!! Sana maulit uli un hehehe, Im gonna need more practice.

Happy din pala ako kase tapos na midterms ni onpu (and she got excellent scores on all of those test). Congratulations baby ko~!! Your one step closer in reaching your dreams and I’m so very proud of you. Keep up the good work. /kis :D

Wednesday: Late ako nagising kasi di tumunog ung alarm ko, nagmamadali ako pumasok, stuck sa traffic sa my baclaran (kasi simbang baclaran pala) so, sumakay ako ng bus, eh stooopid conductor, sabi eh dadaan daw sila ng Shaw blvd. eh di naman pala /pif… so here I am, nag taxi (Thank God, di ako late) pero musta naman, Php150 nagastos ko papunta pa lang dito, so mamaya di na lang ako maglalunch para makatipid… tapos dito naman sa work, ang dami ko na agad tawag, wala naman akong mabenta.. haaay

I can’t wait to see how this week will end… *sigh*

Monday shift at work, and I have nothing to do because it’s Labor Day in the U.S. so, I kind of advertised for some people to give me some topics that I can write about. Here’s one.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,

I’ve first read this poem when I was still in college, in one of my English subjects. I didn’t know where I saved a copy of the reaction paper I made for this poem. But nonetheless, this was one of the most inspiring poems that I’ve read so far. Now, unto the poem itself.

The poem talks about a journey. It could be a journey towards a goal, a journey through life or a journey towards something of importance. As I read the poem, it comes to a point wherein along the way, in order to reach a certain goal, you find yourself stuck along a forked road. This is Robert’s way of symbolizing choices that you will need to make in order to achieve that goal. In the next line, Robert made several descriptions about that particular “path” that we can take. One path, wherein he said had “Better claim” could be a path which is easier, the other path could mean that it’s harder.

Nonetheless, what Robert wants to point out here is the importance of independence and personal freedom. That we should live every decision that we make in life. The poem points out that when we make these decisions, there will be no turning back.

Frost never said in this poem that the less traveled road is the most correct way but what he’s after is a traveler’s thoughts about the decisions that he made during the journey and the way that traveler ponders if that decision was correct.

I hope you had fun reading the poem as much as I did. =)

Lost memories...

I have stopped playing online games for the past 3 months now. I stopped because of much more important things like work, my girlfriend, my family and real life friends.

One of the most unforgettable experience I had with my online gaming career (asides from ~sHiELa1~ of course lol) was taking part on events like RPC 2004-2006, multiple EBs with Leng and her Ninja guild, fighting along side Cross guild, and meeting lots of people, di ko na kayo iisa isahin, sa sobrang dami nyo eh baka abutin ng gazillion pages tong blog post na to hehehe.

Miss you all guys! Hope Makita ko kayo this coming RPC. =)

Good day everyone, This’ll be my first ever blog post. So ya’ll can expect a lot more blog post from me. Wowowiee Vs Eat Bulaga

1^st up, I’m pretty amused with the drama that these two celebrities (Willie and Joey) had produced.

Don’t mistake me guys, I’m not the type of person who watches noontime shows on a daily basis (mostly I’m asleep at that hour or I’m busy playing online games), you’ll most likely find me in my bed watching Discovery Channel during that time because that slot coincides with mythbusters, which I find very interesting.

In this video, it shows that Willie mistakenly pulled out “0” in the box that he said contained the 2 million jackpot, later on he pulled out “2” from the same box.

In this video, Joey attacks a “celebrity” (Its obvious who he is pertaining to). Nuff said.

My Opinion to this issue:

The first time that I watched Willie’s mistake in pulling out the slide, to be honest, it made my eyebrows twitch. But I finished the video first then also watched Joey’s reply.

Lemme comment first on Joey regarding this issue.

Ever since I was a kid, Eat Bulaga was still on Ch 2. I remember watching the tandem of Tito, Vic and Joey as stars of this long running variety show. I did watch Eat Bulaga when I was still a kid, but when the time that they transferred to GMA 7 to give way to APO hiking society show, I’ve lost track of what happened to the show. The only news I hear from them is from my mother who comments on how Joey’s side remarks always pertains to shows that compete with his show on that timeslot ie. APO, MTB, Wowowee.

As I watched Joey’s reply, I, somewhat became a little bit irritated on the way he continuously repeat details like “napanood ko to sa internet, sa dyaryo, sa radio, sa komentarista”, “ayon sa video sa youtube”, “ayon sa mga napakikinggan nyo sa internet”. Gawd, everybody knows what happened already. You don’t have to tell the story again (I’ve watched Willie’s video and your reply, and some details that Joey told his audience are crap). By continuously repeating details, he is successful in blurring some of the details of what truly happened, he is successful in adding insult to the injury of Willie and his staff, and lastly, he makes himself look good with all this comments that he made about the show and the host (which up until now, he doesn’t have the balls to name).

“Ang bata pag nadapa, tinatanong natin kung bakit”. Really now? If you really cared about the kid, you’ll pick him right up and brush the dirt of his pants. Imagine you’re a parent then your child fell to the ground, are you gonna just stare at your kid, and then ask him why he fell down? Or are you gonna pick him up, treat his injuries then move on? If I were your kid, I’d complain why I had you as a father. A father who only cared about himself, his ratings and not his family (showbiz and the artist).

“Explain before you complain”. Well, the explanation to what happened there was pretty logical (I’ll come to this later) if you’re the type of person who doesn’t think bad of other people. Especially coming from Joey who spent like 12 years of his life in noontime show processes.

Now unto what I thought REALLY HAPPENED to the show…

First, let us put ourselves in the shoes of the manager of the show, the props people, and the management.

The Wilyonaryo show consist of 12 boxes, 4 of which contains the prizes (2 million, 1 million, 500K, House and lot) technically giving the contestant 1 out of 3 chances to get a prize (33.33% of winning). If you are the staff or props person of the show, you would be thinking everyday on which colored boxes you would put the prizes right? And also you would be thinking of the most economical of doing it instead of having to repaint the boxes everyday with the number “2”, right?

The most efficient way of dealing with a contest like this is, make 12 boxes with different colors, then make 12 slides containing “0”, then make 4 slides marking the possible prizes. The benefit of this? You only have 4 slides to shuffle, you’ll just place the prize slide over the existing “0” slide. Its fast, it’s efficient and its economical. I think what happened to that event was Willie just made a mistake on pulling out that slide.

Of course a lot of you will say that I’m biased blah blah all that crap. To tell you, I’m not. I won’t reap any benefits writing this. If there will be any benefit that I’m gonna get in writing this, I want that benefit to be that all my readers opened up their minds by getting all the details first on an issue then producing constructive and intelligent comments and taking necessary actions so that bad things won’t happen again.

My bottom line to this issue is this. As far as I know, there are only two noontime shows who gets majority of the viewers during that time slot. Couldn’t you just share those viewers? Why do you keep on dragging each other down? You think you’ll gain respect doing that? You think you’ll up your ratings, yourself and your dignity by mutilating your opponents? Well, think again.
